Excellence in Business Ethics

In 2014, COMPASS financial management won the "Excellence in Business Ethics" category at the Port Macquarie Business Awards. We enquired with the Chamber of Commerce who informed us that the awards were truly independently judged; by people in Sydney who had no affiliation with Port Macquarie. We wanted to enter to have our business externally scrutinised, particularly in a time when so much (negative) focus had been placed on our Profession. Following this win we progressed to the Mid North Coast awards and we were joint winners of our category, the first time that they had ever had concurrent winners (the other winner was a Disability Services Organisation).

Following this we were Finalists at the NSW State Business Awards, where unfortunately the competition was too tough. Nonetheless, it provided us the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of many years work towards what we call "The COMPASS Way": which incorporates our 3 Principles of Honesty, Integrity & Professionalism.

Certified Quality Advice Practice

COMPASS was one of the first Practices to have been awarded CQAP Status in assuring quality advice (within Charter Financial Planning). Warrick Affleck from COMPASS says that "attaining CQAP was a rigorous process to ensure that 'Best Practice Standards & Procedures' existed in all of our processes. These include our Advice processes, administration, technology and even safety processes". We spent a lot of time "working on the business" which resulted in COMPASS becoming recognised by our Licensee for our "Best Practice Standards". This resulted in AXA Financial Planning (now with Charter Financial Planning as part of the AMP Financial Advice Network) awarding the Certified Quality Advice Practice (CQAP) designation to COMPASS in 2006

According to Simon Wallace - AMP's National Compliance and Advisory Services Manager: "the CQAP accreditation exceeds the industry benchmark for providing quality financial advice and, as such, is hard to obtain, with only those practices with business management and service procedures of the highest standards likely to achieve the status"

"Our process sets tough, stringent guidelines for practices and advisers that are not easy to meet. CQAP practices place high priority on measuring client satisfaction and expectations to ultimately offer clients a better, more complete service." Simon said.

At COMPASS "Our goals are to help you achieve yours"

To say that we are in the "Lifestyle Business" is a bit cliché....a bit over used. At COMPASS we assist our clients with helping them to achieve their goals. Not all our client's goals are necessarily Financial Goals (quantitative goals). The more important goals are their qualitative goals... their Lifestyle Goals....improving their quality of life. These include goals like travel, spending more time with family, purchasing their new home or investments....or targeting a worry free retirement.

As owners of the respective arms of the business, the partners are directly accountable for the advice they give. As such they have devoted significant time & effort in establishing themselves as highly credentialed, educated professionals who value their own business success with that of their clients.
