Those who lost income support due to the asset test threshold reduction effective 1 January 2017 will have their Pensioner concession card reissued. This is expected to occur from 9 October 2017.
This card provides access to cheaper medicine under the PBS, bulk billed doctor visits, a bigger refund for medical costs when you reach the Medicare Safety Net, help with hearing services, and discounts to redirect your mail through Australia Post. You may also receive discounts on electricity and gas bills, property and water rates, public transport fares, motor vehicle registration and train fares.
